Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM International) is a federation of humanitarian medical aid and relief, non-for-profit, non-governmental, member organizations. Founded in January 2012 in France, with the vision to work under a unified strategic framework, to increase the effectiveness of the humanitarian response in areas of crisis; aiming at providing medical aid and support to affected people and communities, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion or political affiliation.
UOSSM is currently one of the largest NGO’s operating in Syria, with 600+ staffs and operational sites across Syria, Turkey and Lebanon. Since its foundation, the federation contributed to the establishment and operation of multiple primary health care centers (PHC’s), rehabilitation centers, mental health and psychosocial support centers, medical training centers, Bab Al- Hawa Hospital (Largest Emergency and Specialty Hospital in the Northern Region in Syria), and the provision of medical supplies and consumables to the majority of the medical facilities in Syria; particularly in the Northern region. Also, UOSSM International improvised the first electronic data collection system in the hospitals, and the primary health care centers, it supported in the affected regions inside Syria and in Turkey, when no other such system was in place. This unique electronic medical record system was afterwards adopted by other medical organizations, working in the region, exhibiting great benefits in the provision of effective and efficient delivery of medical aid.
UOSSM works and collaborates with many partners including French Expertise (FE), UN-OCHA, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Médecins du Monde (MDM), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) International, Islamic Relief (IR) World Wide, International Medical Corps (IMC), Save the Children, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, and others.
UOSSM has member organizations across North America, including USA and Canada, and Europe, including France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, and Germany,
